How to order soybean pathogens from the NSPCC

USDA requires permits for the importation and interstate movement of plant pathogens. Below are the steps to take to order soybean pathogens if you are not a researcher in Illinois. (Researchers in Illinois only need to fill out the Culture Request Form.) Contact Glen Hartman (ghartman@uiuc.edu) if you have any questions about this process.

  1. Download the PPQ Form 526 from the website of the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection service at http://www.aphis.usda.gov or e-mail Glen Hartman (ghartman@uiuc.edu) for the PDF file of the PPQ Form 526
  2. Fill out Section A of PPQ Form 526
  3. Fax the permit application and additional information sheet to (301) 734-8700, or mail it to the following address:
    USDA, APHIS, PPQ
    4700 River Road, Unit 133
    Riverdale, MD 20737
  4. Fax a copy of the permit application to (217) 244-1492, or mail it to the following address:
    The National Soybean Pathogen Collection Center
    Attn: Glen Hartman
    NSRC, 1101 W. Peabody Dr.
    Urbana, IL 61801
  5. Fill out the Culture Request Form and e-mail to Glen Hartman (ghartman@uiuc.edu)
